Real is not the cheapest brokerage. It also is not the most expensive. I generally don’t recommend that agents look for a cheap brokerage – I recommend that you look for the most value. You also don’t want to be gauged. The one thing I do caution agents who are looking at Real is to consider the full offering, since this is not an apple to apple comparison with traditional brokerages. Below are some things that you should consider when it comes to your personal and business finances.

The Advantage of No Monthly Fees

At Real, agents don’t pay monthly desk fees, technology fees, or mandatory platform subscriptions. That matters more than most people realize. Some brokerages often charge fixed monthly costs just to stay in business, regardless of whether you close a deal that month or not.

Those fees can add up, create pressure, risk, and unnecessary overhead, especially in slower markets or transitional periods. With Real, your costs scale with your success — not against it.

Lower risk, especially early on.
Newer agents aren’t burdened with recurring bills while they’re building momentum. You’re not paying to “exist”; you pay when you produce.

Higher net income over time.
By eliminating ongoing monthly fees, more of each commission stays in your pocket. Even experienced, high-producing agents can save thousands per year compared to traditional brokerage models.

Predictable cost structure.
Instead of fixed expenses every month, Real’s model aligns expenses to closed transactions. That makes cash-flow planning far easier and removes the stress of overhead during quieter periods.

Freedom to invest where it matters.
Money not spent on desk fees or technology subscriptions can be reinvested into marketing, client experience, professional development, or simply kept as profit.

The bigger picture

“No monthly fees” isn’t just about saving money, it reflects how Real is built. The brokerage invests in centralized technology, automation, and scale so individual agents don’t have to carry that cost themselves. The result is a platform where agents get enterprise-level tools — without enterprise-level overhead.

Low Split + $15k CDN Cap

Low Annual & Upfront Fees

Here’s what you need to know, upfront: When you join Real, there is a one time $249 CDN sign-up fee. Then every year you pay $1,200 CDN from your first 3 transactions ($400 each). Each transaction has a $40 CDN Compliance and Broker Review fee. There are no other transaction fees until you cap.

Team Plans

I won’t get into detail here about the team plans here. I will simply say that that there are loads of options and incentives for teams and boutique brokerages to move on over to Real. You can read more about the plans in the link below or contact me and I’ll run you through them.

RealWallet

Apart from the fact that Real’s American agents can utilize One Real Mortgage and One Real Title, which we can’t due to our country’s rules and regulations, the RealWallet is where there a bit of a Canada-USA divide. But don’t worry – Canadians still get to benefit from RealWallet.

RealWallet in Canada is where you can access your Real Line of Credit. Without a credit score check, you’ll be able to pull out a LoC with an amount that is based on your recent production and other Real-based revenue sources. You have 30 days interest free grace period because going to an interest-based repayment plan (lower than your typical credit card).

Also in your RealWallet portal, you’ll also be able to see the value of your current REAX stock (vested and unvested) and your pending Revenue Share for the month.

In the USA, agents can also access their RealWallet Debit Card and make everyday payments directly from the app, collecting points that can pay down their dues. This apparently will be available to Canadian agents in the future.

Stock Bonuses

Stock Purchase Plan (SPP)
Agents can elect to invest a portion of their commission (typically 5% before capping and 10% after capping) into Real stock (REAX) directly through the Stock Purchase Plan. Real then adds bonus shares on top of those purchases at no extra cost — traditionally around 10% bonus before cap and 15% after cap — helping accelerate ownership over time. All SPP shares are issued as restricted stock units (RSUs) with a standard vesting period.

Capping & Production Stock Awards
When an agent reaches their annual commission cap (the point at which they keep 100% of commissions), Real rewards that achievement with a stock award, giving agents more equity simply for hitting this key milestone.

Recruitment & Attraction Bonuses
Agents who help grow Real’s agent community can also earn attraction stock awards. When a recruited agent joins and closes their first deals, the sponsoring agent receives additional stock as a long-term incentive tied to helping expand the company’s footprint.

Elite Agent Status Awards
Top producers who meet defined production and transaction criteria qualify for Elite Agent status, which comes with substantial stock awards (for example, $16,000 in RSUs) and other benefits like reduced transaction fees. These awards typically vest over a multi-year period and recognize sustained performance and contribution to the brokerage’s success.

Elite Status

Elite Status at Real Brokerage is a prestigious achievement that recognizes agents who reach high levels of production and performance. It’s designed not just as a title, but as a meaningful financial milestone that rewards your success with real value.

How Agents Qualify

Agents earn Elite Status by meeting one of the following production benchmarks within a single anniversary year:

  • Paying $6,000 in post-cap transaction fees after reaching your annual cap; or
  • Generating at least $500,000 in gross commission income (GCI) with 10 completed transactions of $1 million or greater (where you are the majority agent).

What Elite Agents Receive

Once you achieve Elite Status, Real Brokerage rewards your performance with:

  • A $16,000 stock award in company RSUs (vested over 3 years) — giving you significant long-term ownership and wealth-building potential.
  • Reduced post-cap transaction fees (e.g., $129 USD / $175 CAD per deal), meaning more take-home income after you cap.
  • Public recognition and perks within the Real community, celebrating your achievement and positioning you as a leader among peers.

Revenue Sharing

Personally, I’m not a huge fan of most revenue share models that over-incentive “recruitment” over what we should be doing – selling real estate. Neither does Real. While the company offer’s a generous revenue sharing program that rewards agents for attracting quality agents, they also have an “Ethical Agent Attraction” policy that makes sure that our agents stay focused on real estate, not recruitment. The program is only open for producing agents who help build the company, not create silos that only benefit a downline.

In addition to the aforementioned policy, Real’s Revenue share program also has a unique “co-sponsorship” model that further incentivizes collaboration over competition.

Real Retirement + Beneficiary Plan

Real’s Retirement Program helps agents build long-term passive income from the brokerage’s revenue share model — even after they stop actively selling homes. After producing for at least three consecutive years, agents become eligible to continue receiving a portion of their monthly revenue share payments in retirement, as long as they maintain an active real-estate license affiliated with Real. The percentage of revenue share continues to grow with tenure: agents with three years of production begin at a defined percentage, increasing toward full (100%) share after five years of continuous production. This provides a meaningful stream of passive income in later stages of an agent’s career.

Real also supports legacy planning through a Beneficiary (Willable Revenue Share) option, where eligible agents can designate a beneficiary to receive their revenue share payout in the future. This means that the passive income you build through Real can help support loved ones over the long term, giving your career impact well beyond your own active work.

Together, the Real Retirement + Beneficiary Plan gives agents a pathway to ongoing financial security and legacy planning — not just earnings while you’re working, but income that can extend into retirement and beyond.
